Tree Nuts

In culinary sense, nuts are dried fruits with a hard outer shell and one or rarely two edible kernel/seed. E.g. Almond, Hazelnut, Chestnut etc.

LEGUMES

Legumes are plants or fruits are agriculturally grown for their grain or seed. Legumes are typically multiple seeds enclosed in a pod or shell. E.g. Beans, Peas, Peanuts etc.

SEEDS

Seeds are the reproductive unit of a flowering plant, enclosed in a protective outer covering. E.g. Watermelon seeds, Wheat, Pumpkin seeds etc.

JAGGERY

Referred to as ‘superfood sweetener’ jaggery is an unrefined byproduct of sugarcane and a healthier alternative to processed sugar. Jaggery is a ‘non- centrifugal sugar’ as it is not spun during processing to remove nutritious molasses.

Retains Vitamin-B and minerals like Iron, Magnesium and Phosporous

Why is it good for you? 

• Excellent source of iron and other minerals which makes jaggery a great blood purifier and helps eliminate toxins.

• Simple carbohydrates, it is a good source for instant energy.

• Jaggery when had post meal is good for a healthy digestive system.

ROCK SALT

Rock salt / Himalayan Pink Salt is a large-grained, coarse salt, also called halite is unrefined and non-iodized salt. This is pure salt and thus low in sodium content.

Nutrition Facts:

Unlike 3 trace minerals in common salt, Rock Salt has traces of 64 minerals that are good for the body.

Why is it good for you? 

Rock salt is believed to be good for the heart, beneficial for people with diabetes and helps prevent osteoporosis.

RAW CACAO

Raw cacao, one of the most popular super foods, is made by cold-pressing unroasted cocoa beans. This process keeps the enzymes in the cocoa and removes the fat (cacao butter). It is considered to be the purest form of chocolate that one can consume as it retains more of the nutrients from the whole cacao bean when compared to cocoa powder.

Nutrition Facts:

Excellent source of flavonoids and theobromine. Cacao contains over 300 important compounds, including protein, fat, certain B-vitamins and minerals.

Why is it good for you? 

• Theobromine can also improve mental and physical well-being by stimulating central nervous system, dilating blood vessels, increasing energy levels and relaxing tense muscles.

The flavonoids in cacao can block the oxidation of “bad” LDL cholesterol.
